Cosmetic Tattooing!

As you may know, I'm about to go to Europe to see my family that lives over there.  So I decided to get cosmetic tattooing done.  I went to Heidi Farland at Northwest Muse in Vancouver, WA.  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐NorthwestMuse.com

I got my eyebrows and eyeliner done and I couldn't be happier!

Travel Plans post (I'm going to the UK, Ireland, Scotland, Switzerland and France)
and http://myjaneaology.blogspot.com/

Here's part of why I got permanent makeup done.  I have a thyroid condition and with aging, I basically lost a lot of my eyebrows and have very sparse lashes.

One of the first things I learned in the color world was the importance of eyebrows, so I had started drawing them in.  But now I don't have too!

Also, as a Winter it is especially important to have definition.

It does not hurt! You just have to make sure you see someone who numbs your eyes well - like Heidi! :)

I'm no stranger to tattoos, so why not get the convenience and beauty of permanent makeup? My father, Felix Leu, was Swiss and he came to America to go to art school.  He and my mother didn't stay together and traveled quite a bit.  He landed at one point in London and learned tattooing and then sent his son, Filip Leu, to apprentice around the world. Together they ran the Leu Family Iron.  http://www.leufamilyiron.com/

You are Warm Spring!

In reference to Warm Spring and Warm Autumn being the two closest seasons:

"Interesting. I am a True Spring, but I can not touch autumn colors, I lean towards Clear Spring and can borrow from that palette, making sure I don't go too bright in quality, but the hues are right. Also, my temperament leans toward True to Clear Spring as well, not having any choleric tendencies what so ever...pretty much zero choleric. hehe So all True Springs are not created quite the same. " unknown

I think part of what is going on is the difference in semantics or season labels by system.

Semantics

When looking at seasons in different systems, you will find the Warm Spring and Warm Autumn, and assume it is the same (roughly) as the True Spring and True Autumn, and the Cool Summer and Cool Winter and assume it is (also roughly) the same as True Summer and True Winter.

But then you come across the adjective of Pure, which you would think would equate to True, but it doesn't. This is mostly in the 16 season system, like Ferial.

Pure Summer is like True Summer and Pure Autumn is like True Autumn.

True/Warm Spring is actually referred to as Shaded Spring.  And True/Cool Winter is actually referred to as Tinted Winter.

Pure Spring is actually Bright/Clear Spring and Pure Winter is actually the Bright/Clear Winter.

Caygill Early Springs

My friend asked me which Early Spring she would be.  You can see her color analysis at my portfolio.  The four Early Spring categories are not described much beyond their adjectives.  Truth be told, Caygill used a lot of adjectives for subtypes without describing how they were defined.

They are all listed as having the same underlying paint colors (see below).  My friend's eyes are more likely to be considered Floral Spring in Caygill's categories, because that is where you see Raw Umber added.  However, a few of the images of the Early Springs do appear to have hazel eyes, so it's confusing.

I named her fan "Light on Water" and so I pick the Water-Lily, Fresh.

Chinese vs Western Faces by Element

Here's the Western 4 Elements Air or Sanguine Humor:

Air is an element not included in the Chinese 5 Elements.
Does it relate somewhat to Wood or Fire?

Here's the Chinese Element of Wood:

Here's the Western 4 Elements Water or Phlegmatic Humor:

Coloring is one of the main differences in the Western Water (Phlegmatic) element and the Chinese 5 Elements version of Water.

Here's the Chinese Element of Water:

Here's the Western 4 Elements Fire or Choleric Humor:

The Fire element of Choleric actually has some Earthy elements of the Chinese earth element.  The Chinese Fire element has some overlap with Air in Western.  I especially think of an Irish Spring look.

Here's the Chinese Element of Fire:

Here's the Chinese Element of Earth:

Here's the Western 4 Elements Earth or Melancholic Humor:

The Earth Melancholic humor is possibly a blend of the Chinese Earth and Metal.

Here's the Chinese Element of Metal:

Cleaning the Windows

During a recent new moon, Mars happened to be at 12 Taurus represented by Window Quartz.

The 5 Chinese Elements and the 4 Greek Humors: a personal update

We had a very dreary, snow winter here in Oregon and as the Sun began to return with the approach of spring, I noticed that the windows in my office were rather dirty.  At first, I thought it was the outside of the window and I couldn't do anything about it.  But then, I rubbed the inner pane and realized both sides were filthy and at least I could clean my side of the window to my outside world.  And then that metaphor hit me, I can only change my part of perception as much as I am conscious.

Related to this, I had an interesting conversation with two different acupuncturists recently about the 5 Chinese Elements.  One of them was assessing me (and my pulses) and said I am highly Metal, which I suspected (from my face). The second one and I were talking about the correlation of the 5 Eastern Elements with the 4 Western Elements (or Greek Humors), which our color world associates with the 4 Seasons. (But we are also familiar with the 5 Elements in Fashion Feng Shui).

BTW, don't assume the elements line up right.  Water in 4 Humors is not the same as Water in 5 Elements! etc.  See post and post

Oh, I guess I should incorporate more metal in my outfits...
Source

The first acupuncturist told me that I use Metal for the service of my clients, providing assistance in discernment - but not so helpful when I turn it inward on myself! The second acupuncturist told me that our dominant element is the most apparent to others - both in our amplified gifts in that element AND our amplified shadow traits.  Well, ding!

When we think of the four Greek humors which lead us to the types or seasons, during childhood our traits from our dominant humor are given the most feedback - positive and negative.  That painful negative feedback can often cause us to repress our dominant humor and we can then live in our secondary.  So now I get another aspect to this.  Our secondary doesn't have as strongly developed shadow elements!  No wonder it's accepted more.

So when we decide to live in our dominant, that's why it's so uncomforable.  When I switched from Type 2/4 to Type 4/2, or from Summer/Winter to Winter/Summer, it was a huge stretch!  (And often it is a flip like that).  I love the gifts I have as a Winter, but it is excrutiating at times to realize that my shadow is visible!  Anyone relate?

Style Secondaries

I have a blog post at my spin off blog, EYT Closet, on (McJimsey) Style Secondaries:
http://expressingyourtruthcloset.blogspot.com/2015/04/styles-related-to-secondaries.html

What happens when you flop the dominant and secondary, or example:
What is the difference between Dramatic-Classic and Classic-Dramatic?

Both are probably balanced inner lines, outer lines more yang
http://expressingyourtruthcloset.blogspot.com/2015/04/outer-and-inner-design-lines.html

Here are all the possible Dramatic Secondaries, where Dramatic Classic can be like Lucky Guide styles Arty Slick, Avant Garde, or Minimalist. (please ignore Angelic as it's no longer on the quiz)

Dramatic Secondaries

Dramatic Classic - "Avant Garde" is also Dramatic with Classic, this is a Lucky Guide style too, balanced inner lines, outer lines more yang, also Arty Slick Lucky Guide, and Minimalist - you always choose high fashion and high quality

Here are all the possible Classic Secondaries, where Classic Dramatic can be like Lucky Guide Minimalist style.  So it's likely to be more muted than Dramatic Classic, as it's leading with Classic.
(please ignore Angelic as it's no longer on the quiz)
Classic Secondaries

Classic Dramatic - "Minimalist" is Classic with slight Dramatic edge, (like Kibbe Dramatic Classic) balanced inner lines, outer lines more yang, also Avant Garde Lucky Guide - somewhat reserved and sensitive, with high standards, choose classic styles, adding in dramatic touched and refined accessories
